(I AM) SOY.
Hello, my name is Soy. I am a brand and visual designer with agency experience in multidisciplinary design (branding, print, websites, ui for online, products and touchscreens, storyboards, app ui). I have been very fortunate to have worked with some amazing teams, a variety of industries - consumer brands, small business, B2B, health, finance, food/beverage, artists, musicians, - both emerging and well known. Exposure to so many different brands, aesthetics and audiences has been integral for my growth as a designer and problem solver. I value process-oriented problem solving (with room for imminent surprises) and elegant, simple solutions - whether it's a well executed poster, a thoughtful visual narrative, or an intuitive interface.
One of my goals has been to work on more projects with socially responsible organizations and companies In the past few years I've been able to work with some remarkable non-profit organizations such as - ACLU, Nature Conservancy, The David Brower Center and Georgetown Center for Privacy and Technology.
After bouncing between San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Oakland, I landed in a small, quiet town in northern California called Pinole, where I live with my husband and a tiny black cat, Xiao-Mao. My other interests include Chinese martial arts (wushu), acrobatics, weightlifting, nutrition, cooking, gardening, travel, photography.
In my very long ago past life I was a principal dancer with FatChanceBellyDance and taught dance at Heartbeat House and Panther Energy Studio LA. I have been a private chef for dancers and athletes and for those with special dietary needs and an on site cook for a tech company called Oblong Industries. Currently I teach basic stretching on Saturday mornings at Fitverse Gym in Pinole.
